Luca (2021)

Set near a small Italian fishing village during the 1950s, the story follows young sea-creature Luca as he spends his time caring for his families’ school of goatfish and dreaming of a life above the water. Fortunately he befriends the daring and somewhat reckless Alberto who is more than willing to aid Luca in following his dreams. The two form a close bond as they explore the village and befriend the locals.  Unbeknownst to them Lucas parents are tracking them down, just as the two boys have entered a local race that if won will change their lives forever.

Young Highland Princess Merida is anything but ready for the impending political marriage arranged by her mother the queen.  Feeling that her mother can’t understand her situation, Merida decides to enlist the help of a witch to “change her fate” by changing her mother.  This sets off a chain of events that causes Merida to consider whether it is only her mother that must change.

UP (2009)

Carl Fredrickson has lived a full life and now doesn’t seem to have much to look forward to after the sudden death of his wife and childhood sweetheart Ellie.  But he soon realizes he might have one more adventure in him, when contractors decide that they will take his house from him.

Rather than let unscrupulous developers bulldoze his house, he attaches hundreds of balloons to it and sails away.  His plan is to get it to Paradise Falls in South America, where he and Ellie had wanted to go to since they were children.  It’s smooth sailing until he realizes he has an accidental stowaway; the Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

WALL-E (2008)

In the future, Earth has been overrun with garbage, so humans have fled the world on giant spaceships and left behind Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth class or Wall-E to clean it all up.  After years, only one Wall-E is left continuing his job, while also entertaining himself with what he finds.  Soon after he finds a plant growing, a ship deploys an EVE probe and it’s love-at-first-sight (for Wall-E anyway).  Just as she’s warming up to his quirky ways, Wall-E shows her the plant and everything changes.

Winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, Wall-E was also nominated for Screenplay, Original Score, Original Song, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

Ratatouille (2007)

When young Remy is separated from his family and finds himself alone on the streets of Paris, he (through a series of events) decides to pursue his dream of being a chef.  The only problem is that he’s a rat!  Teaming up with unassuming human Linguini, they make a dynamic duo, taking the cooking world by storm.  This is to the chagrin of Chef Skinner (Ian Holm), who wants to keep from Linguini that he is heir to a famous restaurant, and head food critic Anton Ego (award winning actor Peter O’Toole) who doesn’t believe the motto that “anyone can cook”.

The film was winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Finding Dory (2016)

We pick up with Marlin, Nemo and Dory a year after the events of ‘Finding Nemo’ ended.  The three have adjusted into a family routine.  Although the ever forgetful Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) feels that there’s something missing. When she suddenly starts remembering her childhood, she decides she must go find her parents.  Nemo and Marlin accompany her on her quest.  Along the way they have some frightening and humorous adventures as they try to find out where Dory belongs.
